As we flow through the summer months in 2021, there is a constant degree of uncertainty about whether our service to society will be able to include the significant human connection experienced by Rotary participants in the past. While the "hands facing space" mantra is undoubtedly part of our daily routine it is clear that the faith in Rotary is increasing and more members are making face-toface connections. However, the nature of Rotary has changed. It is not without a degree of uncertainty that will continue to grow as we progress through summer 2021. It is yet to be determined if the personal connections Rotary members cherished previously will be maintained. Although the "hands facing space" idea is likely to be a part of the routine in our club, there's no doubt that a sense of confidence is developing and more people make face-to-face connections. The reality is that Rotary has evolved. Rotary has evolved. The way we conduct our business has been redesigned to maintain online meetings in our organizations, and we are introducing social and service activities through an in-person format. Our newfound opportunities have combined with what we learned from our previous pandemics to create a perspective to Rotary. In a recent Rotary survey it was heartening to learn that about 75% of clubs have started organizing their activities as usual' events" The warmer months saw many of our members out and about focussing on initiatives such as river and beach cleans litter picking, and of course the ongoing service to society from Rotary volunteer teams who give their time for COVID vaccination and test centres. Listen to the piece here. Amanda Watkin - General Secretary's Column in Rotary Magazine In the last Rotary survey, I was encouraged to see that around 75 percent of clubs are making plans for their usual business initiatives and programs that previously helped communities across the nations in Great Britain and Ireland. As proud as I am to see that Rotary Centre continues to support the communities of Great Britain and Ireland, Rotary Centre continues to support various community-based projects which benefit members of Rotary and help keep them safe, compliance and Insurance are essential. The members' imagination and ingenuity when solving some of life's toughest challenges is astonishing. I am thankful for the chance Rotary offered me with in 2002, to be an official part of the club. Rotary has provided me, just like it has provided many others with a community of like-minded, trustworthy people from which I've developed genuine friendships over the past 20 years. We must now promote Rotary by inviting our family and friends and colleagues to join Rotary.
